Where are all the IT jobs?

A few short years ago, my inbox and feed were flooded with articles about the surplus of IT and cyber jobs. I attended local symposiums to chat with educators and fellow business owners about this shortage and brainstorm how we could bridge the gap with relevant training programs and promote STEM within our networks.
Fast forward a couple of years, and now all I'm hearing about are people who have earned their degrees or cyber certificates but aren't getting hired. They're getting ghosted, or the "entry-level" jobs require 3-5 years of experience—or they find out that the high-paying job they were promised doesn't exist without 7+ years of experience.
